Image Management System

Library and Information services has now purchased a new image management system from Extensis. The product is called Portfolio, which in colloboration with another Extensis product called Netpublish allows us to catalogue thousands of copyright cleared images, before making them available via an internal website. The system has been made available for hosting digitised slides at Sion Hill, but departments will be later offered the opportunity to store and maintain their own image assets through the system.

The system will be branded and promoted to Art students and staff throughout September, giving users the opportunity to search and download from the collection anywhere on campus via an interface comparible to Google Images.

Sion Hill Library Summer Closure

Sion Hill Library will be closed from Monday 29th June. It will reopen in newly refurbished space in Sion Hill’s Main Building on Monday 28th September. The following alternative arrangements have been made. All Art & Design staff and students will be able to:-

• Have the borrowing limit increased to 25 books for the entire summer
• Use all facilities at Newton Park Library
• Have access to and be able to borrow up to 5 items from the University of the West of England’s Bower Ashton campus library until 18th September (on production of your Bath Spa student card and proof of address)
• Place online holds for Sion Hill material for collection at Newton Park Library until 28th August (log on to the Newton Park library catalogue for this)
• Request books and journal articles through inter-library loan services at Newton Park Library
• Have access to current journals in your own department at Sion Hill
• Continue to have access to all of the Library’s electronic services, including journals databases
